Send notifications to Slack

Connect Slack and post a message to a channel when something happens in your app.

Integrations Updated 2026-10-24

Slack notifications keep a team informed without anyone opening the app. Connect your workspace once, and the app can post a message to a channel at the moment something happens.

Connect Slack

  1. Open Account settings and choose Integrations.
  2. Find Slack and select Connect.
  3. Sign in to Slack, choose the workspace, and approve access.
  4. Back in AppHandle, Slack shows Connected. Select Test to check it; the result tells you how many channels the connection can reach. A Slack connection never shows an email address.

On the Slack side you need:

  • An account in the workspace the messages should come from.
  • Permission to add an app to that workspace. Many workspaces allow this for any member, but some restrict it to administrators.
  • For a private channel, the AppHandle app has to be added to that channel before it can post there.

What the connection can see

The app can list and post to public channels. A private channel does not appear in that list, so to post in one you add the AppHandle app to the channel and tell the builder which channel it is.

The app posts messages; it cannot read them. It cannot browse a conversation or act on something someone wrote.

Ask for a notification

Describe the message and the moment it should be sent. You, or someone you invite to edit the app, are the one taking the action, and the app has to be private — a public app cannot use a connection:

Post a message to #orders when I mark an order as paid.

Send me a Slack message when I add a booking.

Post a summary to the #team channel when I finish for the day.

Name the channel if you know it. The app can list the public channels the connection can reach, so you can also describe the one you mean and let the builder find it.

What a message can contain

Messages are sent as the AppHandle app in your workspace. A message can be plain text, or it can be laid out with a heading and emphasised values, which suits order, booking, and alert details.

What notifications cost

Each message posted is one call to Slack, metered from your monthly included usage first and then your balance. Current prices are on the pricing page.

The number of messages is what adds up. A notification for every new entry can mean a steady stream of calls. If that is more than you need, ask for one message that groups the details.

If messages stop arriving

If the connection is removed, or the app is removed from the workspace, the app's messages stop. In Account settings → Integrations, disconnect the service and connect it again to approve access afresh, and add the AppHandle app to a private channel again if it is missing. You can also select Disconnect at any time; your apps lose access to Slack until you connect it again.

Where to go next

Use a connected service in your app explains how to ask for behaviour like this, and Google Workspace covers the other services people connect most often.
