Teaching the agent new tricks

The skills your app already has, the ones you can install, and how to upload your own.

Integrations Updated 2026-10-17

A skill is a set of written instructions the agent loads when they are relevant to the work in front of it. You never see one run: it is reference material that helps the agent do a particular kind of task well.

You manage skills in the app's Settings, under Skills. Everything you add applies to that one app, and it travels with the app's own files.

The skills every app already has

Every app starts with the AppHandle set: the skills that are always present, covering how the agent works on your app and how the app itself is built. You do not install them, and you cannot remove them. The panel says so under its heading — the common ones are always present.

Install one from the catalogue

Under Built-in skills is the catalogue AppHandle ships. Select Install beside one to add it to this app. Once it is there, the row shows Installed with a Remove button. A skill installed this way stays with the app and is there for the agent on later sessions.

Install one from the community

Above the catalogue is Install a skill from skills.sh, where you can search the open skills ecosystem and install one the same way. These appear in your list marked Community. Each result shows how many times it has been installed, and it is worth checking before you add it — the agent treats an installed skill as guidance, not as fact.

Upload your own

Select Choose .zip file under Upload a custom skill to add a skill you wrote or downloaded. AppHandle checks the file before installing it, and a file that fails the check is not installed. When it is rejected the panel lists exactly what was wrong with it, so you can fix the file and try again. When it is accepted you see a preview of what is inside before you commit to it, then select Install. Uploaded skills are marked Custom and sit in the app's own files.

What a skill cannot do

A skill is reference material, and the platform never runs it. It cannot make the agent leave your app, reach another app, or do anything unrelated to the app you are building. If you add one you do not want, select Remove and it is gone from that app.

Where to go next

Extra tools you can let the agent use covers the outside tools the agent can be given, and Chat with the builder explains how work on your app is described.
